Digital Tachograph 1C

New 1C (SMART2 Mobility Package) legislation was introduced on 21 August 2023 meaning significant changes for the tachograph industry.  Least of all was the introduction of new tachographs from Continental and Stoneridge.  Utilising the latest technology to provide added security features these tachographs are available from Phoenix stock.

  • Included in the Mobility Package, SMART2 we will see the introduction of:
    • Digital Map stored in SMART2 tachograph – Will be updated periodically in tachograph
    • Border crossings will be recorded automatically
    • Automatic position of vehicle when loading / unloading
    • 3rd source of motion, internal to tachograph to assist in detecting motion conflicts
    • New DSRC antenna for SMART2
    • Bluetooth capability to interface with other devices
    • Mandatory ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) using Bluetooth
    • Updated Workshop & Driver cards
    • New information on the calibration plaque – Load type associated with the vehicle
    • New Information on tachograph printout
    • The tachograph will be software updateable
  • SMART2 legislation will also see various retrofit and replacement tachograph programs over the next 3 years
    • This will also incorporate smaller vehicles carrying out International journeys
